In human HCC cell lines, myricetin can induce cell cycle arrest by inactivating cell cycle-related proteins and inhibiting cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (CDK1) activity or induce apoptosis through the mitochondrial pathway by reducing the mitochondrial membrane potential and downregulating antiapoptotic proteins and upregulating proapoptotic proteins [5, 12]. The gene discussed is CDK1; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
