Patients treated with BNB had a reduction ofserum IL-6, IL-1B, and TNF-alpha, rapid recovery of circulating T- andB-cell frequencies and increased antibody production to the spike protein.51 In addition to the immunological findings, there was 1 death in theBNB group compared with 25 deaths in the group without BNB(p < 0.001), a decrease in ARDS(p = 0.37), with a similar duration of hospital stay forboth groups.51 The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is acute respiratory distress syndrome.
