CCL5 is chemotactic for T cells, eosinophils, and basophils expressing the receptor CCR5, and its blockade reduces inflammation and viremia in critically ill COVID-19 patients (Patterson and others 2020), whereas CCL7 attracts monocytes and eosinophils and is associated with the severity of the disease (Yang and others 2020). This evidence concerns the gene CCL5 and COVID-19.
