The present study suggests that CCAR2 mainly regulates the spatiotemporal activity of Aurora B. However, Best et al. showed that CCAR2 deficiency inhibits transcription of a subset of mitotic genes including AURKB, in various squamous cell carcinoma-derived cell lines, possibly through downregulation of the RFX1 and CREB transcription factors [17]. This evidence concerns the gene CCAR2 and squamous cell carcinoma.
