CD24 and COVID-19: Several types of EVs-based investigational new drugs against COVID-19 have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to initiate a Phase I/II trial under an Investigational New Drug (IND) protocol, and they can be classified as 1) EVs derived from allogeneic MSCs; 2) EVs overexpressing CD24 isolated and purified from human embryonic kidney T-RexTM-293 cells engineered to express high levels of human CD24; 3) EVs extract from human amniotic fluids (Zofin) and 4) EVs derived from Allogeneic COVID-19 T cells (Figure 2).
