We also provide new evidence to support potential roles for genes not reaching genome-wide significance and identify possible mechanisms linking these genes to CAD; we identified strong associations between ten independent signals in the LIPC/ALDH1A2/AQP9 gene region with phosphatidylethanolamine, lysophosphatidylethanolamine, and phosphatidylglycerol lipid species independent of clinical lipids. Here, AQP9 is linked to coronary artery disorder.
