Both nematode infections activated the upregulation of the DEG Glyma.09G201200 encoding enzyme cinnamyl-alcohol dehydrogenase (CAD, EC:1.1.1.195) to catalyze the final step of monolignol biosynthesis, including p-coumaryl alcohol (H), coniferyl alcohol (G), and sinapyl alcohol (S), the main component of lignin (Figures 7A,B).
