In serum a modified 7-protein biosignature developed for pulmonary TB [c-reactive protein (CRP), neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM)-1, IFN-γ, CFH, apolipoprotein (Apo)-AI, IP-10 and serum amyloid A (SAA)] only showed modest sensitivity and specificity for pediatric TBM, but a 3 -protein signature (adipsin, Aβ42 and IL-10) was associated with improved diagnostic performance (27). Here, CRP is linked to meningeal tuberculosis.
