Another study in patients with head and neck cancer used scRNA-seq to identify trans-differentiation of conventional NK cells into CD49a+CD103+ ieILC1-like cells and a NR4A2 (Nuclear Receptor Subfamily 4 Group A Member 2) -expressing CD49a– subset, of which the first one provided a strong anti-tumor immunity and the second showed only low capacity to control tumor growth. This evidence concerns the gene ITGA1 and head and neck cancer.
