Eugenol and dehydrodieugenol B from Nectandra leucantha (30 mg/kg) in the mice with the LPS-induced ALI, decreased lung edema, inflammatory cells, and the IL-6 and IL-1 β levels in the BALF as well as decreased inflammatory cell infiltration and those positive to iNOS, MMP-9, and TIMP-1, and decreased the collagen content and the 8-isoprostane expression in the lung tissue (50). This evidence concerns the gene TIMP1 and acute respiratory distress syndrome.
