CK2 has been shown to positively regulate cell cycle progression in cancer cells by interacting and/or phosphorylating a number of proteins including p53, PLK1, CHK1, Wee1, MDC1, DNA-PK, and 53BP1 [25–33], but the function of CK2 in non-cancerous cells has not been explored to the same extent.
