AFP plays a major role in the development of HCC and is largely considered as an immunotherapy target for HCC32 on one hand, AFP promotes tumor proliferation via induction of mitosis, invasion, and angiogenesis of tumor cells33; on the other hand, it suppresses apoptosis through activation of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway34. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
