Expression levels of VEGF-A and VEGF-R2 were found to be significantly higher in ischemic brain tissue in the diabetic stroke rat model than in non-diabetic stroke model, and the mRNA level of VEGF-R2 was positively correlated with the level of brain edema, but not with the volume of cerebral infarction, in the former model [33]. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and stroke disorder.
