In this study, we showed that the deficiency of PTEN and increased levels of p-AKT and p-mTOR were associated with tumor grade, intrahepatic metastasis, vascular invasion, TNM stage, and high Ki-67 labeling index in liver cancer or HepG2 cells, emphasizing again that PTEN can act as a tumor suppressor through inhibition of the proliferation and migration of HCC via PTEN-PI3K-AKT pathway. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is liver cancer.
