Taken together, the dual functions of these risk genes in oncogenesis could exhibit tissue-specific expression, and transformation from tumor suppressor to tumor promoter could be presented due to epigenetic reversal in IDH-mutated/wild-type LGGs; IDH mutation results in dramatically elevated levels of 2-hydroxyglutarate (a potential oncometabolite) (59) and could influence the functions of these risk genes. This evidence concerns the gene IDH1 and neoplasm.
