Endothelin-converting enzyme-1 (ECE1) is required for the development of a subset of neural crest lineages, including cardiogenesis, and a case-control study (Wang et al., 2012) suggested that ECE1 polymorphisms may contribute to susceptibility to sporadic CHD in the Chinese population, particularly in TOF and peri membranous ventricular septal defect (pmVSD). The gene discussed is ECE1; the disease is coronary artery disorder.
