The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), another tyrosine kinase receptor, is involved in the regulation of gastric mucosa proliferation and progression of gastric carcinomas through the Ras/MEK-ERK signaling pathway, and its overexpression is associated with poor prognosis in gastric cancer (Yoshida et al., 1989; Matsubara et al., 2008). This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and gastric carcinoma.
