Using the same group of covariates, serum ZAG (adjusted hazard ratio (AHR) 0.95, p = 0.045), CFS (AHR 3.40, p = 0.002), serum albumin (AHR 0.82, p = 0.04) and presence of ischemic heart disease (AHR 0.09, p = 0.02) independently predicted infection-related death, while presence of ischemic heart disease (AHR 3.65, p = 0.045) remained as the only predictor of cardiovascular-related death. This evidence concerns the gene AZGP1 and myalgic encephalomeyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome.
