SLC12A3 and cancer: Tumor cells shed exosomes that induce chemotaxis and directional migration of adjacent cells (Steenbeek et al., 2018; Sung et al., 2015; Sung and Weaver, 2017; Zomer et al., 2015); however, no evidence currently exists on whether the material or information exchanged by migratory NCC might include exosomes, and whether extracellular vesicles regulate NCC migration, despite the similarities of NCC behaviors to cancer.
