In liver cirrhosis and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, miR-142-5p prolongs STAT6 phosphorylation by inhibiting suppressor of cytokine signaling 1 (SOCS1) protein, leading to increased IgE, eosinophil infiltration, fibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis, and aggravates tissue fibrosis (26). This evidence concerns the gene SOCS1 and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
