IL27 and viral infectious disease: Evidence of the potency of IL-27 as an antiviral cytokine has been accumulating over the past decade and demonstrates that IL-27 can inhibit a wide range of viral infections including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), herpes simplex virus (HSV), influenza, zika virus (ZIKV) in vitro and in vivo (18–30) (Table 1).
