Successful outcomes following treatment with S1P-system modifying drugs in animal sepsis models are not universal, as a study utilising a rat sepsis model called colon ascendens stent peritonitis (CASP) reported that treatment with S1PR1-agonist SEW2871 at 0.5 mg/kg i.v. 12 h after induction of sepsis did not improve microvascular leakage in mesenteric venules or serum creatinine levels in these animals. This evidence concerns the gene MBTPS1 and Sepsis.
