Thus, previous studies from our laboratory have shown that N370S GBA1 mutation alters the lysosomal enzymatic activity leading the accumulation of glucosylceramide and of cholesterol which are related to the expression of multilamellar bodies in fibroblasts derived from patients with PD (García-Sanz et al., 2017; García-Sanz et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene GBA1 and Parkinson disease.
