The Serum Ascites Albumin Gradient (SAAG) is calculated by the difference between the albumin level of serum and of ascitic fluid which may be used to assess the extent of ascites and indicate the presence of portal hypertension if SAAG is ≥1.1 g/dl, but reports have been in contrast.13-15 In our study, the SAAG was ≥1.1 g/dl in all of the patients with ascites with a mean value of 2.12±0.62. The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is Ascites.
