Iontophoresis of epinephrine or administration of the GR agonist dexamethasone (DEX) have been shown to reactivate HSV-1 in the rabbit and mouse models of ocular infection [11,12,57,58,59], although our results suggest that reactivation may have occurred in sympathetic SCG rather than sensory TG neurons in these animal models. The gene discussed is NR3C1; the disease is eye infection.
