SLC7A5 and cancer: In the case of glutamine transporters, alanine-serine-cysteine transporter 2 (ASCT2, also known as SLC1A5) and L-type amino acid transporter 1 (LAT1, also known as SLC7A5) are overexpressed in most cancers [176,177,178]; 2-aminobicyclo(2,2,1)-heptane-2-carboxylic acid (BCH) inhibits the function of LAT1 [179]; γ-L-glutamyl-p-nitroanilide (GPNA) inhibits the function of ASCT2 [180,181]; and benzylserine inhibits the function of LAT1 and ASCT2 [182].
