LEP and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: Both extrahepatic triggers (inadequate caloric and nutrition intake, metabolic dysfunction with IR, adipokines, leptin and leptin resistance, chemokines production), and intrahepatic players (oxidative stress, fatty acid oxidation, endoplasmic reticulum stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, resident macrophages) are involved in the development of NAFLD and NASH.
