The concept of recombinant T cells with specificity for killing the cancer cells, constitutes a possible potent therapeutic modality, such as the use of anti-CD133 CAR T-cells (4th generation) for CCA that express CD133, provided beneficial effect on the tumors, however, due to its possible toxicity, the use of this modality is still under study. This evidence concerns the gene PROM1 and cholangiocarcinoma.
