In a meta-analysis and systematic review published by Preeti Malik et al. where they evaluated laboratory findings and their relationship with outcomes in patients hospitalized for COVID-19, they found that biomarkers such as: elevated D-dimer (pooled-OR 3.39; 95% CI [2.66–4.33], p < 0.00001), LDH (pooled-OR 5.48; 95% CI [3.89–7.71], p < 0.00001), and elevated C-reactive protein (pooled-OR 4.37; 95% CI [3.37–5.68], p < 0.001) were markers independently associated with a high risk of poor outcome. Here, CRP is linked to COVID-19.
