However, a plant diet has been reported to be associated with better health outcomes such as a lower BMI, better body compositions in lean body mass and body fat, decreased glycated Hb, lower blood lipids, lower all-cause mortality, and lower risks for obesity, cardiovascular or cardiometabolic disease, cerebrovascular disease, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and certain types of cancer compared to an omnivore diet [5,37,38].
