The comparison of patients with mild disease severity (children vs. adults) showed significant differences in IgD+CD27− naïve B cells, IgD+IgM+ unswitched, and IgM+CD27−CD38dim B cells (p = 0.03, p = 0.008, and p = 0.01, respectively) suggesting a potential role of these subpopulations specifically during mild childhood infection (Figure 3B). This evidence concerns the gene CD27 and infection.
