SPP1 and neoplasm: Along with other researchers, we previously demonstrated that bone marrow adiposity might fuel tumor cells with fatty acids, interleukins, and cytokines, e.g., osteopontin [23,24], most probably resulting in the enhanced glycolytic activity of tumor cells, which is then captured by [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose metabolism and increased SUVmax values, as determined in the present study.
