In summary, this study demonstrated that (1) alloferon effectively decreases the expression of the glutamine transporter SLC6A14 in pancreatic cancer cells, (2) thereby reducing the uptake of glutamine into the cells, and (3) decreased intracellular glutamine concentration might increase sensitivity to gemcitabine and increase apoptotic cells. This evidence concerns the gene SLC6A14 and pancreatic neoplasm.
