Regarding monocytes derived from human peripheral blood, Becerra-Díaz et al., recently demonstrated that the expression of the common γ chain, a part of the IL-4 and IL-13 receptors, is enhanced in female patients with asthma, and monocytes from these females express a larger amount of CX3C chemokine receptor 1 than that in male patients with asthma. This evidence concerns the gene CX3CR1 and asthma.
