PNPLA3 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: Multiple lines of evidence suggest that parathin-like phospholipase structural domain 3 (PNPLA3), a member of the parathin-like phospholipase family, is expressed primarily in the liver and adipose tissue and is a key factor in the pathogenesis of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) [1, 2].
