Thirteen kinases were found to activate sodium/hydrogen exchanger (NHE1) in normal hematopoietic progenitors, of which FLT3-ITD, KRASG12D, and BTK phosphorylated NHE1 maintained alkaline intracellular pH (pHi) and supported survival of AML cells. The gene discussed is FLT3; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
