AGT and Hypertension: Ang II interacts with the Ang II type I (AT1) receptor and activates a cascade of intracellular pathways that results in increased production of ROS, release of growth factors, release of ET-1 and adhesion molecules, triggering endothelial impairment, vasoconstriction, and remodeling of resistance arteries [41,42], ultimately leading to hypertension [43].
