Rodon et al. (2013) showed that HPV-associated laryngeal papillomas exhibited significant high activated levels of PI3K, which was accompanied by an increase in EGFR and subsequent activation of MAPK/ERK pathways. To promote cancer, HPV oncoproteins do not only affect survival pathways, they also targets other proteins whose defects cause cancer and other diseases (Bonab et al., 2021). The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is cancer.
