Cholesterol has been implicated in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis in multiple pathways with elevated levels of cholesterol in the brain strongly associated with an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.32,35–37 In the present study, FC levels in the brain correlated with amyloid-β42 levels, with the FC levels elevated only in the brains of female and not male Abca7 KO mice. Here, ABCA7 is linked to Alzheimer disease.
