Intriguingly, GSEA enrichment plots showed that genes upregulated in breast cancer stem cells, genes upregulated in metastatic prostate cancer, genes highly expressed in liver cancer with poor survival, and genes regulating mitochondrial membrane permeability that are involved in the apoptotic process were significantly enriched in ESCC with high DLEU1 expression levels (Fig. 1I), suggesting the potential contribution of DLEU1 to poor prognosis and mitochondrial apoptosis. This evidence concerns the gene DLEU1 and metastatic prostate carcinoma.
