Nine loci were associated with an increased risk of developing severe COVID-19 symptoms, including variants in DPP9 (OR 1.29, p = 2.0 × 10−12) and FOXP4 (OR 1.2, p = 6.0 × 10−13) that were previously shown to increase the risk for interstitial lung disease. This evidence concerns the gene FOXP4 and COVID-19.
