APOC3 and systemic lupus erythematosus: Given that patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) have a high prevalence of premature CV disease and show an altered lipid profile, our objective was to study whether three molecules that play a central role in the triglyceride metabolism: apolipoprotein C-III (ApoC3), angiopoietin-like protein 4 (ANGPLT4), and lipoprotein lipase (LPL) differ between SLE patients and controls, and how they are related to disease characteristics, including disease damage.
