BMPR1A and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: In this regard, it has been demonstrated that the pharmacological inhibition of BMP signaling reduced diet-induced hepatic steatosis in obese mice by targeting the production of triglycerides in the liver [18]; but also, this study has also shown that this effect is specific for the inhibition of BMP type I receptor ALK3, proposing a role of BMP2 and BMP4 in the establishment of NAFLD [18].
