To mimic the inflammatory conditions contributing to migraine, we applied BzATP (a stable ATP analogue)46, which stimulates the pro-inflammatory P2X7 receptors, typically presented in the immune cells47, and measured the amount of released cytokines (IL-6, IL-10, MCP-1, TNFα, IL-12p70, and IFNγ) (Fig. 3A–F).
