CASP8 and Yersinia infectious disease: Finally, recent studies have shown that caspase-8, like caspase-1 and -11, can also directly cleave GSDMD into its N-terminal pore-forming fragment to trigger pyroptosis; upon TNF-induced lethality, deletion of the caspase-8 inhibitor cFLIP or following Yersinia infection and/or the inhibition of NF-κB signaling [78,98–100] (Figure 2).
