Hyperglycemia elevates the levels of endothelial adhesion molecules, such as vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), via activation of the nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) pathway [7–9], thus augmenting the interaction between monocyte and endothelium and leading to endothelial inflammation. This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and Hyperglycemia.
