For proteins involved in inflammation, we identified a significantly increased abundance after ALS for periostin (POSTN), peroxiredoxin-2 (PRDX2), superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1), fatty acid-binding protein (FABP1) and histidine rich glycoprotein (HRG), whereas complement 5a anaphylatoxin (C5) showed a significant decrease in abundance (Fig. 3c). The gene discussed is C5; the disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
