We also demonstrated that the gene Psap, which encodes a multifunctional glycoprotein that acts in the intracellular metabolism of sphingolipids, and the gene Bcap31, whose encoded protein is involved in CASPASE 8-mediated apoptosis, were significantly upregulated in the prediabetes group (Additional file 1: Fig. S5D), predicting that Sertoli cells were also influenced by the accumulation of sphingosine. Here, BCAP31 is linked to prediabetes syndrome.
