Femia et al. (37) investigated the effect of 15-week sitagliptin treatment on colon carcinogenesis in 1,2-dimethylhydrazine-induced colon cancer rats and found fewer precancerous lesions (manifesting as mucin-depleted foci) in the colorectum in rats treated with sitagliptin than in controls. Here, MUC5AC is linked to malignant colon neoplasm.
