Loss-of-function mutations in human PIEZO1 results in autosomal recessive congenital lymphatic dysplasia (Lukacs et al., 2015), and gain-of-function mutations of PIEZO1 cause the disease dehydrated hereditary stomatocytosis (Zarychanski et al., 2012; Albuisson et al., 2013; Andolfo et al., 2013). This evidence concerns the gene PIEZO1 and hereditary stomatocytosis.
